Family Immigration, officially known as Family Sponsorship, is the most common way to apply for immigration to Canada, you as a sponsor can apply to bring your relatives, including your spouse, partner, children, parents, grandparents, and others to immigrate to Canada.

  • Sponsor your spouse, partner or child

    If eligible, you are able to sponsor your spouse, partner, or child, and must be able to:

    • support them financially

    • make sure they don’t need social assistance from the government

  • Sponsor your relatives

    If eligible, you are able to sponsor your relatives, and must be able to:

    • support your relative financially when they arrive

    • be able to meet basic needs for yourself and your relatives, such as food, shelter, and clothing

    • make sure your relative doesn’t need social assistance

  • Sponsor your parents and grandparents

    Sponsoring your parents or your grandparents follows a very similar process but has slightly different criteria. As a sponsor, you must support your parents or grandparents financially and other necessities, if you are qualified and invited to apply - there are 2 applications that are submitted and reviewed for the parents and grandparents program:

    • the sponsorship application and

    • the permanent residence application
